2021 Spring Lantern Festival Open House

Happy Chinese New Year from Lexicon Language Institute!

Chinese New Year is a special time for all Chinese people and the last day is even more special. The fifteenth and final day of Chinese New Year is called Chap Goh Mei in Chinese. In English, it is called the Spring Lantern Festival.

On the day of the Spring Lantern Festival, children go out at night carrying paper lanterns. These lanterns come in many colors, shapes and sizes. The sound of fireworks is everywhere and the whole city is bathed in light. At the end of the night, everyone lets go of their lanterns. This represents letting go of their past selves as they get ready to find a new one, which they will let go of next year.

To celebrate the Spring Lantern Festival this year, Lexicon Language Institute is having a Zoom Open House. Join us as we make lanterns together and listen to a special Chinese New Year story.
